Robinson Services are delighted to announce that the company has been nominated as finalists for the Export Business of the Year Category for the 2012 Business Awards for the Ballymena Borough Chamber of Commerce and Industry.The winner of each category will be announced at The Gala Awards Dinner Ballymena on the 11th October 2012.

Robinson Services’ Managing Director David Robinson freed from the Brig!

A brand new initiative, ‘Boss in the Brig’ recently saw Northern Irish business leaders apprehended by the Harbour Police and charged to collectively raise 10,000 in support of The Prince’s Trust, a charity which gives practical and financial support to 13-30 year olds in the UK who have struggled at school, been in care, have been in trouble with the law or are long-term unemployed.

Local businessman, David Robinson, Managing Director for Robinson Services Ltd, put out an urgent plea from his cell for help to raise his bounty set at£1,000, with all of the bail proceeds going to The Prince’s Trust in Northern Ireland to help disadvantaged young people move into education, training or employment.

David was charged to raise this bounty to guarantee his release from the Brig in the depths of the River Lagan with a warning that those who failed to raise their bail would be keel hauled at noon the next day!  Arrests took place on Friday 21st September 2012. Bosses were held in custody at Belfast Harbour until such time as they raised a bounty set at £1,000. Bail could be raised by any means necessary calling on the generosity of clients, colleagues, suppliers, business networks, and friends.

With 34 donations, David Robinson, Managing Director of Robinson Services was able to raise 175% of the target £1000, a staggering £1750 for The Prince’s Trust.

David commented; “Thank you to everyone who donated, not just for my freedom, but for all the local young people my bail will help through the crucial work of The Prince’s Trust. The money will significantly help to change young people’s lives.”

Robinson Services takes number one spot in BICS Cleaner of the Year Awards 2012

It is with great pleasure that Robinson Services announce that one of their cleaners, Andy Heagley, has been awarded the BICS Cleaner of the Year Award for 2012. This year’s presentation of BICSc Cleaner of the Year for Northern Ireland was held at Belfast City Hall, on Friday 14th September 2012.  The Chairperson of BICSc Mike Fletcher, as well as the organisations CEO Stan Atkins, were both in attendance to present the awards.
The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Gavin Robinson congratulated BICSc on their awards ceremony for an industry which although vital is under recognised, an idea which was echoed in the keynote speech by the Chairperson of BICSc who reminded everyone how important the cleaners are in any organisation.

Robinson Services clean up their IT Infrastructure with the help of Leaf IT Solutions Company

Robinson Services has completed a ‘recession friendly’ cloud computing deal with Leaf, an IT Solutions Company that was recently placed in Deloitte’s Fast50 for the second successive year and is ranked the top infrastructure company in the prestigious list.. The contract will see Robinson Services save thousands of pounds through their adoption of cloud computing with a return on investment expected to be delivered within less than 5 years through greater productivity and reduced hardware and upgrade costs. Leaf completed the work in under 4 weeks, which included setting up Microsoft Office 365, a cloud based solution, for 65 users. The new system links all of Robinson Services offices to the cloud and provides an online portal for documents to be stored which can be co-authored in real time. In addition, the service also includes pc to pc video and audio calls, instant messaging and shared calendars and contacts.

David Robinson, Managing Director of Robinson Services, said:

“We’re delighted with the solution Leaf has delivered. With two locations in Antrim and an office in Scotland, our teams were very disjointed and not working as well as they could due to a poor communications infrastructure. Now, with a joined up system in place, the various teams can communicate much more efficiently across all mediums and productivity has therefore increased.” At a time when businesses are conscious of every penny, we were concerned about the cost of improving our systems. We had been told by other firms we would need a complete IT infrastructure re-build, which would have been very expensive and time consuming. Leaf was able to advise us, however, on a much better solution which required minimal capital expenditure and will future proof our IT spend with little need to upgrade due to automatic software updates happening as a matter of course. Leaf has ensured we have the best IT in place at a very recession friendly cost to ensure we can provide the highest level of service for our customers.”

Robinson Services supports A Thirst for Life Endurance Charity Rowing Challenge on Lough Neagh

Over one billion people in the world do not have access to safe water and every fifteen seconds one in four children under the age of five dies in East Africa from water borne diseases!

However five rowing men aim to do something about that! Recently the took on the challenge by rowing over fifty miles round the largest inshore freshwater lake in the British Isles, Lough Neagh – inside just one day, Friday 14th September 2012. Just one freshwater well in East Africa provides enough water for 1,000 people. Lough Neagh supplies clean water for 40% of Northern Ireland’s population of one and a three quarter million. Five men with a thirst for living who want to see their charitable money well spent!

Of the four participating rowers, two are medal winners in the 2012 Olympics; Richard Chambers, Silver medal [twice World Champion] and Alan Campbell, Bronze medal [three-time World Championship medallist], both Team GB. Third is Richard Archibald, a former double World Championship medallist and Finalist in the Athens Olympics for Ireland and the fourth, Jonathan Mitchell [University World Championship Bronze medallist] and 9th in the World this year, rowing for Ireland in the Under-23 Lightweight Men’s Pairs. Their cox and Captain, steering them round the Lough and exhorting them to greater efforts, is Ian Harvey, aged 65 years, a former Irish Schools Eights Champion who has rowed across the world’s largest lakes for Fields of Life and BBC’s Children in Need, creating a `world first`. All at one time rowed for Coleraine Academical Institution, situated on the banks of the River Bann the only sea-borne outlet for Lough Neagh and all are members of COBRA [Coleraine Old Boy’s Rowing Association].

It was a unique event involving of five men of widely different ages from the same rowing organisation who bond together, comrades in rowing, striving to lend hope to those thousands of people without hope. David Robinson, Managing Director Robinson Services who met the rowers along with his son Jack and daughter Lucy commented; “Both Alan Campbell and Richard Chambers were inspirational during The London 2012 Olympics and this particular event proved just as inspirational.  It was a pleasure to meet them and Robinson Services were delighted to contribute to and support this incredibly worthwhile cause.”
